Your collection

Your trading card collection in MapRaiders

Your trading card collection lives in the album: every card you find or earn goes there. There you own it, sort it and show it. The album is the memory of everything you have walked and played.

What collecting means in MapRaiders

A trading card collection in MapRaiders grows in two places: outside on the real map and at the card table. MapRaiders is a GPS game and a trading card game (TCG) in one world, and the album is where both halves meet.

It is a digital card collection: collectible cards online, kept in the app and with you on your phone wherever you go. Your deck is the part of the collection you take to the table: fifty cards around one commander.

The card album

The card album shows what you own. Every card you find or earn is kept there, sorted and ready to look at. Whatever is still missing is the reason to set off again.

Every card carries a name, a picture and a piece of story. The story is called The Collision: the seam between the dimensions tears open, and figures from all ages and worlds stand on the real map. Collecting means putting that story together card by card.

Six factions put the album in order

Every card belongs to one faction, and every faction has its color. That makes the factions the natural order of the album: six sections, six colors.

Rarity levels and rare cards

A small gem on the card tells its rarity. The levels are called Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare and Secret. A regular commander card carries a mark of its own, CMD. No faction wears gold, because gold is reserved for rarity.

Rarity says how seldom a card turns up. For foil cards and collector versions one rule is fixed: a rarer picture never makes a stronger card.

Planned

Foil cards and collector versions

Some cards are planned in more than one version. Foil cards catch the light and shimmer when you move them. Collector versions show the same card with a different artwork.

Foil card: scroll or move the pointer

For all of them the same holds: different light, different artwork, same rules. Every version is one and the same card and plays in exactly the same way.

Three card backs

MapRaiders has three card backs: commander, building and play card. The back alone tells you what kind of card lies beneath. The six card types are commander, building, unit, command, trap and terrain.

Planned

Where the cards come from

Four ways are planned: finding cards on the map and earning them for territory you claim on foot, proving yourself in the card duel, the weekly pass and season pass, and trade-in missions for duplicate cards. Card finds on the map are already running in the internal test.

All four ways are explained on the page about getting cards, linked below. Everything is earned by playing.

What this collection is not

You own your cards, sort them, show them and play them. The beta has no trading between players: a card stays with the player who earned it. The album is a collection and nothing else.

No. Cards and decks never expire, and your territory stays yours until another player takes it from you. What is in your album stays in your album.
