Cricket fan map app: reviews from the IPL-fan beta

What does it actually feel like to claim Wankhede on a Mumbai Indians match day? To defend Chinnaswamy as RCB, or to hold Chepauk for CSK? Beta tester reports on the cricket-fan map app, the India-exclusive feature that turns IPL season into territorial gameplay.

Cricket-fan test

Why stadium territory matters for Indian fans

Cricket in India is cultural identity, not only a sport. We tested cricket-fan features along three axes:

  • Match-day defence. Double territory weight on the home stadium during an IPL match day. How does that feel for a fan?
  • Fan-clan formation. Do Mumbai Indians fans naturally form a Wankhede clan? Do CSK fans form a Chepauk clan?
  • Inter-team battles. RCB versus Mumbai Indians match day, with a clan-versus-clan territorial battle. Does it heighten the cricket fandom or feel forced?

The Indian cricket-fan beta wave is planned for IPL 2026 (March to May). The German beta testers stress-tested the underlying territory mechanic, not the cricket-specific features.

Reviews

5.0 out of 5 from three beta reviews

Ron walks his dog every day, Vivian jogs in the morning, Aljoscha covers Berlin on foot. The three of them used MapRaiders for several weeks inside their normal routine and gave their feedback in German. We use first name and initial because the testers asked for that.

I played Pokémon GO for three years and at some point I just stopped. What I missed never arrived: real land instead of fleeting gyms. When the Saudi takeover happened in 2025, it was clear to me that the Niantic model is not heading where I want to go. So I am building MapRaiders myself, in a way that runs properly on the phone most Indians actually own, not only on Tier-1 flagships. Ad-free, no investor pressure, no compulsory subscription. My mohalla is my playing field. Yours is yours to take.

My dog needs his two walks a day anyway, so I just take the block along now. Sounds silly, but I check every evening to see whether everything is still blue.

I jog every morning anyway, but now I am also defending something. My Alster loop belongs to me, and that is how it is going to stay. Funny how much discipline that suddenly mobilises.

You drop a short audio clip at a doorway, three days later somebody you do not know has found it. That feels oddly intimate for a game.

Note: testers are internal beta participants (closed beta). First name and initial is used because the testers asked for it. The reviews are translated from the German originals; Schema.org marks them with translationOfWork so anyone can check the source.
