Frequently Asked Questions
How do I delete my account?
Open the app, go to Settings (gear icon in your profile), and tap "Delete Account". Confirm the deletion. All your data will be permanently removed within 30 days, in line with our obligations under the DPDP Act 2023.
Can I change my username?
Yes. Open the app, go to Settings, and tap your current username to edit it. The new name must be unique and free of offensive content. Names that mock caste, religion, or community are not allowed.
My territory is not showing up on the map. What can I do?
- GPS signal: Make sure GPS is active and has good reception. Tall buildings in places like BKC Mumbai, dense gullies in old Delhi, or basement levels can degrade GPS accuracy.
- Internet connection: An active 4G or 5G data connection (Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL) is required so your claimed territories can be uploaded to the server. Patchy network during monsoon may cause delays.
- Zoom level: Territory cells are only visible at certain zoom levels. Zoom in closer to see individual cells in your mohalla.
- Decay: Territories shrink over time if they are not walked regularly. Check whether yours may have decayed.
- Restart: Sometimes closing and reopening the app reloads the map data correctly. A simple restart often does the needful.
If none of this helps, send us an email with a screenshot and we will investigate.
How do I defend a territory in my mohalla?
There are three layers of defence:
- Passive defence: Walking the same area repeatedly fortifies it. A regular morning walk in your colony or daily evening round in the local park makes it harder for outsiders to take over.
- Defence structures: Place mini-game challenges on your territory. Attackers must beat them to claim the land.
- Clans: Clan members can hold and defend territories together. Whether your clan is your friend group from college, your cricket team, or your office colleagues from a tech park in Bengaluru, clan ground is significantly harder to break.
Is MapRaiders really free?
Yes. The full game is free of cost. The app is currently in open beta and contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no advertisements. Cosmetic items may be added later as optional purchases through Google Play Billing in INR, but they will never affect gameplay.
What is the minimum age?
The minimum age to use MapRaiders is 18. Users between 16 and 18 should have verifiable consent of a parent or guardian, in line with Section 9 of the DPDP Act 2023. Children below 16 are not permitted to register.
Why does the app need GPS access?
MapRaiders is built around real-world location. GPS is used to determine which cells you walk through and to claim them on the map. Location data is processed only as needed to run the game and is never sold to advertisers, telecom operators, or any third party. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I play near IPL stadiums or during a cricket match?
Outside the stadium, yes. MapRaiders works wonderfully at large public gatherings. Walking the streets around Wankhede Stadium, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, or Eden Gardens before or after a match can earn you significant territory and lets you meet other fans on the map. Inside the stadium, network congestion and security restrictions may limit gameplay. Always follow stadium rules and never use the app where it is not allowed.
Does it work offline?
Partially. GPS itself works offline, but live map sync, multiplayer features, and clan defence require an active internet connection. We are working on a more robust offline mode for treks in the Himalayas and other low-coverage areas.
Will MapRaiders run on my low-end phone?
Most likely yes. The app is optimised for budget Android devices that are popular in India, including Redmi, Realme, Samsung M-series, and POCO models with 3 GB RAM and Android 8 (Oreo) or above. Battery use is moderate. We continue to optimise for low-end hardware on every release.
How can I report a bug or suggest a feature?
Email us at info@scafa-investments.com. Please include your device model (e.g., Redmi Note 12, Samsung Galaxy M14), Android version, and a short description of what happened. Screenshots help a lot. We read every message.
