MapRaiders takes the opposite approach. The social network IS the map itself. What you see is not curated — it is real. Who is active in your city, who holds territories, who leaves echos, who creates quests: all of this happens outside, in the world, visible to everyone who is also outside.
No profile picture is recommended to you because an algorithm wants to maximize engagement. You encounter other players because you are literally in the same place. This kind of connection cannot be faked — and that is exactly the point.
What if the map were the social network? Not a map with social features bolted on, but a platform where geographic position is the foundation of every interaction?
MapRaiders was launched in 2025 under Scafa Investments LLC (Cutler Bay, Florida, USA). The impulse: existing location games like Ingress or Pokémon GO show that people are willing to walk around the real world for digital content. But none of them took the next step — treating the map as the primary social medium.
The team started with one core idea: territories as personal statements. When you hold a zone in your city, that is a statement. It is visible. It demands real presence. And in that lies the social signal that no algorithm can manufacture.
The MapRaiders app is built with React Native on Expo SDK. TypeScript throughout, Zustand for state management, on-device GPS tracking with a privacy-first design. No location data leaves the device without explicit user action.
The backend stack runs on Node.js with Express and TypeScript. PostgreSQL 16 with the PostGIS extension enables high-performance spatial queries — polygon overlaps, proximity checks, and territory merge operations in real time.
All live events (territory attacks, echo detections, event updates) flow through WebSocket connections. Redis handles session management, rate limiting, and pub/sub between server instances.
MapRaiders does not collect data for advertising networks. GPS data is used exclusively for game mechanics. No third-party tracking, no data resale, no advertising SDK in the app.
What you see on the map is unfiltered reality. No recommendation engine decides which content you see — only geography and the activity of real people.
MapRaiders will never introduce an ad-funded model. Future revenue comes exclusively from optional creator tips and premium features that enhance gameplay — not manipulate it.
Quests, echos, challenges, and territories belong to the players who created them. MapRaiders is a platform, not a content owner. Your creations are your creations.
MapRaiders is built by an independent development studio under Scafa Investments LLC. No venture capital, no external investors demanding an ad model. This lets us make decisions that benefit the user — not the next funding round.
