How do I claim territory?

Start moving

Walk, run, or cycle through your neighbourhood. MapRaiders tracks your GPS location in real time and records your path.

Close your polygon

Return to your starting point to close a polygon. The enclosed area must be at least 500 m² to qualify for claiming.

Review and submit

Check the map preview. Confirm the polygon covers the territory you intended. Submit your claim.

Territory is yours

Your colour takes over the map. Defend it from attackers or let it decay. Claim more to expand your empire.

What boosts my territory value?

Movement multipliers

Runners earn ×2.5, Cyclists ×1.3, Walkers ×1.0, Swimmers ×0.8. Speed and efficiency boost your score on each claim.

Weather bonuses

Rain and snow boost territory value up to ×2.0. Storm conditions reward brave explorers with multiplied scores.

Streaks & novelty

Claim daily to build streaks (×1.1–2.5). New routes earn ×2.0 bonuses. Night exploration adds ×1.1–1.5.

Territory essentials

How do I claim territory in MapRaiders?
Walk, run, or cycle to trace a path on the map. Close your path to form a polygon (minimum 500 m²) and submit it. Once confirmed, that territory is yours. The movement method you choose affects your score multiplier — runners earn 2.5× and cyclists 1.3×, while walkers earn 1.0×.
What are movement multipliers?
Movement multipliers boost territory value based on your transportation method. Walkers earn ×1.0, Runners ×2.5, Cyclists ×1.3, and Swimmers ×0.8. The speed and efficiency of your movement determines the multiplier applied to your territory's base value.
How does territory decay work?
Territories decay over 7 days without maintenance. Each day they lose value gradually. To keep your territory strong, walk through it again or place an Echo to extend its lifespan. Legends and high-value areas decay slower than newly claimed land.
What bonuses can I earn on my territory?
Weather bonuses (×1.3–2.0 during rain/snow), streak multipliers (×1.1–2.5 for consecutive days), novelty bonuses (×2.0 for new routes), and time-of-day bonuses (×1.1–1.5 for night routes) all stack on your territory value. Community votes and seasonal events add even more.
