How do I create an Echo?

Open create menu

Tap the create button and select Echo. Choose audio, text, or photo mode—you'll record up to 30 seconds of content.

Create your message

Record your voice, write text, or snap a photo. Be creative: audio art, local tips, treasure hunt clues, jokes, or stories all work.

Pin to location

Choose where the Echo should appear on the map. This becomes the GPS waypoint players must reach to discover it.

Echo goes live

Your Echo is placed. Other players will see it only when they physically arrive at that location. Build an audio landscape.

Discovery & Lifespan

How do Echos work?

Location-based discovery

Echos are invisible until you physically visit their GPS coordinates. Walk to that spot and the audio/text/photo appears. Only location creates access.

48-hour decay

Echos last 48 hours by default. But community engagement extends them. Likes, shares, and comments refresh the lifespan. No interaction means they fade.

Legendary status

Echos can achieve Legendary status through community votes. Once Legendary, they're permanent, immune to decay, and celebrated in the global feed.

What are Echos in MapRaiders?
Echos are location-based messages pinned to GPS coordinates on the map. Each Echo is a 30-second audio clip, text message, or photo. They only appear when another player physically visits that location. Echos decay after 48 hours unless the community extends their lifespan through likes and engagement.
How do I create and place an Echo?
Open the create menu and select Echo. Record up to 30 seconds of audio, or write a text message, or upload a photo. Choose your GPS location on the map. Submit and your Echo is placed. Other players will see it only when they arrive at that exact location.
How long do Echos last?
Echos decay after 48 hours by default. But if the community engages with your Echo — liking, sharing, or commenting — it extends the lifespan. Echos can become Legendary if they receive enough community votes, making them permanent and immune to decay.
What are creative uses for Echos?
Echos enable audio art installations, local tips and reviews, treasure hunt clues, memorial messages, park route guides, street art commentary, and community stories. They turn any location into a narrative space where players collaborate creatively.
